Turkey Oak – Quercus cerris
Turkey Oak – Quercus cerris – is the most common type of oak tree on Pelister from several species of oak that exist here. The area extends from Spain to Asia Minor. The cherry is a long-lived species and can live up to 200 years. It reaches a height of 30 to 35 meters and a trunk thickness of 1.3 m. It has a thick dead bark that is dark gray and shiny with an intense green color. The fruit is acorns, about 4 cm long and about 2 cm wide. Up to 1/3 or 1/2 is covered with a cap (dome). The dome is covered with leathery stubble.
