Pelister’s Earth (Terrestrial) Invertebrate Fauna shows the presence of a total of 288 taxa, belonging to a total of 10 groups of invertebrates

The following are the most common taxa orders:

Coleoptera – Beetles (130 taxa),

                   

                     

 

Orthoptera – Grasshoppers, Locusts and Crickets (107 taxa),

                     

                   

                     

 

Diptera: Chironomidae –  True flies: Nonbiting midges, or lake flies (35 taxa) and

                     

 

Gastropoda – Snails and Slugs (Land Slugs) (30 taxa)

 

                     

 

Following taxa are presented only with 1 to 5 species:

Hymenoptera – Sawflies, Wasps, Bees, and Ants,

Homoptera – Homoptera include the aphids, scale insects, cicadas, and leafhoppers,

Heteroptera –  universally named “bugs”

Dermaptera –  Earwigs

Opiliones – Harvesters, or Daddy longlegs   and

Psocoptera – Booklice, barklice or barkflies.
